Projects
Any time you are making tracks in Konga Beat, you'll be working in a project. A project will consist of scores for each mode in Donkey Konga. Within each score are tempo changes and player tracks with notes.
Editing project information
Clicking on the project name will open a dropdown with information about the project, like the track name, author of the project, and track artist.
- Score Author: The name of the author(s) who created the score.
- Title: The name of the song used with this score.
- Artist: The credited artist for the song.
- Album: The album which the song originally appeared in.
- Year: The year the song was originally published.
- Genre: The genre for the song. The options are based on the available genres in Donkey Konga 2 and Donkey Konga 3. (See also: Genre)
- Mode: Switch between different scores for this song from the dropdown menu. Every song in Donkey Konga has 9 scores: 1 Player (Monkey/Easy, Chimp/Hard, Gorilla/Expert), 2 Player (Monkey/Easy, Chimp/Hard, Gorilla/Expert), 4 Player, Battle, and Challenge.
- Speed: The speed value affects how large or small the player's window is to hit the notes. The faster the speed, the less time the player has to hit the notes. Changing the speed does not affect note positions and can only be seen when loading the score in the game. (Default: 80)
- Difficulty Rating: The difficulty rating visible during the song selection screen. The lower the rating, the easier the song. (Default: 2)
Genre
Each regional version of Donkey Konga 2 and 3 has different genre options available. Internally, the games store only a numeric genre ID for each track, which means the displayed genre is chosen by the game. This does not affect compatibility, as any track written for one of the three supported Donkey Konga games will work on the others; however, depending on the the game and genre, it will sometimes result in a song's genre not being displayed accurately.
Konga Beat uses the genre list from the US version of Donkey Konga 2. If you would like to assign a genre based on Donkey Konga 3 or the European version of Donkey Konga 2, you can simply select the Donkey Konga 2 (US) genre that shares the same ID number:
| Genre ID Number | Donkey Konga 3 (JP) | Donkey Konga 2 (US) / Konga Beat | Donkey Konga 2 (EU) |
